Tell us about your family?
My husband Todd and I have been married for 3 1/2 years but a fun fact is that we have been friends since we were 10 years old! When I married Todd, his two children Isaiah (now 16) and Victoria (now 15) made me a mama, which I had always felt in my heart that the Lord had created me to be! We have two babies in Heaven and then this past December, we welcomed James Wyatt who is now 5 1/2 months old! Our hearts are filled with a greater joy, no doubt!
Why is FIT4MOM important to you?
FIT4MOM is not only important to me, but it’s essential for this season of life I am in for not only my physical health, but my mental and emotional health as well! The community of mama’s with their babies and young children was a true answer to my postpartum prayers! It is a place that any mama can come and feel safe, encouraged, supported, and with people who have either “been there and survived” or “right there with ya mama!”! It is a place that your baby can get the fresh air, interaction with others, stimulation of their senses, and just a fun time with friends that they need as well
What do you remember about your first FIT4MOM class?
I was ready! I knew God had made a way and place for me to be poured into while fighting for my joy and wellbeing postpartum, so I wanted to be there ASAP! I remember how welcoming everyone was. It was like getting a hug to my soul from so many people that just “got it”. The workout was easily modified and adaptable to where each mama was at in their journey. There was no judgment, just a whole lotta encouragement . I knew I wanted to go back!
What was your childhood ambition?
To be a wife and mother!
What are 3 of your favorite things?
Jesus, a pedicure, and relaxing on a patio, a beach, any place outdoors with a breeze!
What is one of your 2023 goals for YOU this year?
To be a healthy strong wife and mother mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually.
What has being a mom taught you?
Grace. Patience. Unconditional love. Flexibility. Balance. Iced coffee is essential.
Advice for first time moms?
Try to not compare yourself! Not to other moms and not what you or life was like before pregnancy and postpartum! It really can be the thief of joy! Get the help you need sooner than later, whatever that looks like for your needs! Give yourself and your spouse a lot of grace. Be intentional with your spouse and with your family as a whole. It’s all such a troubleshoot! LAUGH A LOT. It really is the best medicine (but take your meds too!).
You have 4 hrs of FREE babysitting, what would you do with your time?
Get a pedicure, go on a date with Todd, and take a nap!
Favorite spot to eat in Texarkana?
Our house! We love to grill and have patio time in the evenings when we can!
Favorite thing to do as a family?
Spend time together! Life is busy and schedules are crazy! It’s so nice to have a chill evening at home or go explore a trail or catch a sunset! Sometimes the simplest times are truly the best!
What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?
Will drive to Bossier on a whim with my friend Crystal to hit up Dirt Cheap since they shut ours down here in T-Town!
If someone was thinking about attending a FIT4MOM class or joining, what would you tell them?
Come! Come as you are! No matter if you had the best sleep, the hardest night, spit up or stains on your shirt, your baby needs to fed during the middle of class (true story), or if your baby or toddler is throwing a fit. Once you are there, you can breathe a whole lot better, someone is gonna entertain your baby with books, bubbles, or a song, and you’ll get a nice dose of an endorphin release that you totally need! Trust me! The hardest part is sometimes just getting out of the house with your child, but I can tell you (and many other mamas will as well) that it’s 100% worth it! I’ve never regretted going and I’m always glad I did!
