Tell us about your family?
I met my husband, Clint, in 2011 when I was just 20 years old! We met at the wedding of two of our closest friends and have never looked back. We were long distance for about 4 years; we decided to stick it out so that I could pursue my nursing career in Houston while he was in Texarkana. I finished nursing school in 2015 and I moved to Texarkana. We got married in 2017 and are about to celebrate our 6th wedding anniversary in June and our 12th year together! We have since had 2 beautiful girls! Audrey Ann came into our lives in 2019 and Cameron Kate came in 2022. We love our little house of girls... and dad ;)
Why is FIT4MOM important to you?
Being a mom, it is so hard to find the time to do things for yourself; we are pulled in so many different directions, daily. When I started coming to Fit4mom classes, I felt like I was finally doing something for myself. This group of women have supported me, uplifted me, and brought so much positivity and light to mine and my daughter's lives. I hope I have done the same for them. I feel that it is so important to support each other as moms, and that is what this class is all about. And of course, getting in a great workout while doing all of the above!
What do you remember about your first FIT4MOM class?
I remember feeling like I belonged. And I remember feeling VERY sore! We worked muscles that I hadn't worked in a long time - and it hurt so good!
What was your childhood ambition?
I wanted to be just like my Gramma, who passed away 2 years ago. She was a nurse and her name was Audrey. I am now a Nurse Practitioner and my daughter is named after her. I think I definitely conquered my ambition, and then some. She was an amazing woman!
What are 3 of your favorite things?
Mexican food, caffeine, and my bed.
What is one of your 2023 goals for YOU this year?
To become more confident in my skin and body.
What has being a mom taught you?
Patience and a love like NO other!
Advice for first time moms?
Do not compare to others; your child is special and unique and perfectly made in their own way.
You have 4 hrs of FREE babysitting, what would you do with your time?
Head to Target and spend an unnecessary amount of money :) and maybe sit out on a patio and eat 5lbs of crawfish with the husband!
Favorite spot to eat in Texarkana?
That's a hard decision! Lost Pizza - pizza and wings OR Loca Luna - rancheros.
Favorite thing to do as a family?
Go to the park! And Saturday night tradition of movie night with movie popcorn, candy, and the blow-up mattress in the living room - definitely Audrey's favorite thing to do!
What is a fun fact that many may not know about you?
I originally did not get into nursing school, so I pursued a degree in Human Development and Family Studies at Texas Tech University. After I got my degree, my desire to be a nurse was still very much present. I then got into one of the best nursing schools in the country and graduated with my BSN. Lesson learned - don't let failure keep you from pursuing a dream!
If someone was thinking about attending a FIT4MOM class or joining, what would you tell them?
Come and see what it's all about! Everyone is so inviting and I promise you, you will be fulfilled in so many ways!
