Tips & Tricks for Surviving the Holidays w/ Littles

All of us can relate to spending holidays in a house that isn't baby proofed with a baby/toddler who won't get a nap in that day. Holidays can be stressful with littles, but I hope some or all of these tips will allow you to enjoy the day with your family.

1. Set up a fun kids table. Using craft paper as a table cloth is a good way to keep littles occupied while adults are eating. Put crayons and/or stickers out for your child to decorate the table with. You can also find themed coloring sheet place mats.

2. Place a table cloth under the table for easy clean up. We all know food WILL end up on the floor so make it easy on yourself by adding the tablecloth.

3. Serve the food in muffin trays so they can try a little bit of everything. This is also a fun switch up from their "normal" plates.

4. Whether you are hosting or headed to a gathering, always make sure there is food there that your toddler will eat. If you have a picky eater (like me), come prepared with a dish or two that you know they'll eat. If they decide to try other foods that day, that's great!

5. Feed the kids before you eat. I know I feel like I get up 10 times during mealtime to grab something for my toddler or help her with something. Allowing them to eat before the adults will set you up for an enjoyable (and hopefully HOT) meal. Plan an activity or turn on a movie for the littles when the adults sit down.

One of the best tips I can share comes from Audrey Anderson herself: set your expectations low. I always keep this in mind for family gatherings and traveling. You'll realize that things go much better when you don't have high expectations.

I am wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving! Love on your kiddos and families and enjoy the time together.

With love,

Sarah
