Winter Skin Care Tips

Winter skin tips:

Stay hydrated- 64 ounces of water a day, and increasing intake of foods with high water content like fruits and veggies.

Avoid extreme temperatures like sitting next to a fireplace or heater and taking hot showers. This can disrupt the skins natural balance of moisture.

MOISTURIZE-tip: apply within two minutes of getting out of the shower- it traps the moisture from your shower and you get a double benefit!

Use sunscreen daily- common mistake is for people to stop wearing their sunscreen just because it’s winter time- we recommend sunscreen year round!

For most individuals I recommend using a thick, cream-based moisturizer two times each day.

Look for ingredients that are specifically geared toward treating dry skin, including dimethicone, glycerin, lanolin, shea butter and petroleum jelly.

Lip balm to prevent your lips from becoming chapped. Look for ingredients like aloe vera and vitamin E and avoid lip balms that have rubbing alcohol as the first ingredient.

For more severe dryness, one can use over the counter hydrocortisone temporarily to relieve symptoms!
